Administrative / biographical background:

Opened in 1881 at Earle Street by the Wesleyan Methodists. Closed in 1948 and sold to Benjamin S. Bostock Ltd., cheesefactors. The day school associated with the chapel was opened in 1887, became an annexe for the Borough Schools in 1908, and was closed in 1915. Records which relate to all three Wesleyan Day Schools in Crewe, i.e. Earle Street, Hightown, Mill Street, are listed with those of Mill Street Schools, Ref. EMS 54/19/2, 54/21.
